I was fortunate enough to work with data analytics experts Kybo Corp in the creation of their new website. I always love the chance to craft every element of a business’ website copy. It’s far more challenging – and consequently more rewarding – than creating the odd page here and there. I have the opportunity to create a consistent brand voice, and to really hone the message of a site to target the company’s ideal clients. Every work is carefully chosen to position the business as the best possible solution to the problems those ideal clients are facing.
The Challenge Of Crafting The Website Copy For Data Analytics Experts
When you’re working with a company as their technical writer there is a certain level of challenge involved. Tech companies – whether they’re dealing with data, software, or hardware – need a writer savvy enough to understand the nuances of what they do. They also need someone capable of translating all that tech knowledge into accessible language that speaks to the individual company’s ideal clients, at their level. Whether they’re pros who are also in the tech industry or technophobes who hate technology, the copy needs to connect with them.
This is another reason I love taking on a full website re-write (or creating one from scratch), as it really gives you the chance to unify the language of a site. It’s easy for a website’s tone and voice to become disjointed over time as new pages are added, different people work on it, and elements are created with different goals in mind. One thing a company should do on a regular basis is to hire a single writer to overhaul the entire site and re-write everything in a single, unified voice.
